Center for the development of professional qualification of medical workers
Clinical Laboratory Diagnostics Department
The organization of the Department of Clinical Laboratory Diagnostics was caused by the need to expand laboratory research methods in clinical medicine and primarily in the diagnosis of tropical and parasitic diseases common in Central Asia in the 20-30s of the 20th century.
At the Department of Hospital Therapy of Tashkent Medical Institute, headed by A.N. Kryukov and then I.A. Kassirsky, a parasitology course was created, headed by N.I. Khodukin.
In connection with the expansion of the teaching of malaria and diseases characteristic of hot climates, there was a need for the training of highly qualified laboratory doctors, for which an independent department of tropical diseases was organized at Tashkent Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education, headed by Professor A.S. Mnushkin. This department devoted a lot of time to training doctors in hematological, general clinical and parasitological research methods. However, there was a growing need to improve laboratory services and create conditions where laboratory doctors could improve their skills. All this stimulated the creation in 1958 of an independent department of Clinical Laboratory Diagnostics and Parasitic Diseases, which was headed by Candidate of Medical Sciences, Associate Professor N.R. Rakhimov.
Subsequently, the department became known as the “Department of Clinical Laboratory Diagnostics”. From 1961 to 1998, the department was headed by Professor M.M. Makhkamova. From 1998 to 2019, Professor A.N. Aripov was in charge; from 2019 to the present, the Department of Clinical Laboratory Diagnostics of the Center for the Development of Professional Qualifications of Medical Workers is headed by Associate Professor O.A. Aripov.
In recent years, scientific research has been carried out in the direction of “Quality Control of Medical Laboratories”, and the main scientific directions of the department were:
“Lipoproteins and atherosclerosis”, “Serum enzyme systems in toxic goiter and diabetes mellitus”, “Ultrastructural characteristics of erythropoiesis cells in patients with peptic ulcers and gastric cancer”, “Enzymes and pregnancy”, etc.
During the existence of the department, more than 400 printed works have been published, including 7 monographs, 30 methodological recommendations and 5 rationalization proposals. 10 candidate's theses and two doctoral theses were defended.
The department is located in the administrative building of the center. The department's bases are the Republican Specialized Scientific and Practical Medical Center of Pediatrics and the City Diagnostic Center.
Various cooperation is being carried out with the clinical diagnostic laboratories of treatment and preventive institutions of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the Research Institute of Biomedical Chemistry of Moscow, and the Clinical Laboratory Diagnostics Department of Russian medical academy of continuous professional education.
