History of the Department of Epidemiology

 

The Department of Epidemiology of the Center for the Development of Professional Qualifications of Medical Workers (formerly TIPME) was organized in 1932 under the name “Epidemiology and Microbiology”, as an independent department the department began to function on August 21, 1950 under the name “Epidemiology”.

 

The department was headed by:

From 1932 to 1950 - Professor A.D. Grekov.

From 1950 to 1952 – Professor Gildin S.R.

From 1952 to 1957 - Professor A.D. Grekov.

From 1958 to 1960 - Professor M.I. Badanov.

From 1960 to 1977 – Associate Professor Podgornova P.G.

From 1977 to 2005 – associate professor R.A. Bakhramova.

From 2005 to 2011 – Professor Niyazmatov B.I.

From 2011 to 2017 – Ph.D. Saidaliev S.S.

The department has trained 11 candidates of medical sciences and 6 doctors of medical sciences. At the moment, 2 doctoral and 6 candidate dissertations are being carried out at the department. The department's employees have published over 500 scientific papers.

Iskandarova Gulnoza Tulkinovna – Doctor of Medical Sciences, professor, head of the department, dean of the Faculty of Medical and Preventive Medicine, chairman of the women’s committee of the Central Republican Medical Research Center. In 1997 she graduated from Tashkent State Medical Institute-II, sanitary and hygienic faculty. In 2000 she defended her candidate's dissertation, and in 2007 she defended her doctoral dissertation. In 2009 she received the title of professor. Author of more than 400 scientific works, including: 5 invention patents, 10 monographs, 130 journal articles, 18 in Scopus, 1 textbook, etc. Under her leadership, 3 candidate and 1 doctoral dissertations were prepared and defended. In 2021, she was awarded the commemorative sign “Thirtieth Anniversary of Independence of the Republic of Uzbekistan.” In 2022, she was awarded the "Excellence in Healthcare" award. He is a member of the editorial board of the SEBiOZ journal “Sanitation - Epidemiology, and public health

journals”, “Be healthy” journals, the Belgian journal “of Eurasian Medical Research Periodical (EMRP)”. He is a member of the expert commission of the Scientific and Practical Center for Epidemiology, Microbiology, Infectious and Parasitic Diseases. Member of the specialized scientific council and seminar DSc.04/30.12.2019.Tib.30.01 (14.00.30-Epidemiology, 14.00.10-Infectious diseases). In 2016, as part of the KOICA cooperation program of South Korea, a training course was conducted on the development of a master plan for the curriculum "Epidemiological Investigation of Water- and Foodborne Infections".

Jamila Rakhmanova Doctor of Medical Sciences, Associate Professor of the department. From 2005, works at the "Epidemiology" department, authored more than 130 scientific articles, 8 methodological recommendations and 12 teaching-methodical books, She approved dissertation (PhD) in 2007, It was published on the topic: "Epidemiological features of TORCH-infections and greating ant epidemic measures of Republic of Uzbekistan". She approved DSc dissertation in 2021, it was published on the topic: "Epidemiological features of the HPV and organization of anti-epidemic activities". She associates of professor from 2016. Rachmanova J.A. is expert-consultant of CDC, JIZ, WHO, and she also head of  Center of innovation and technologies at the Centre of postgraduate medical education. She participates at the trainings in foreign countries (German, Korea, Institute R. Koha She participate at the trainings "Forecasting and mathematic modeling of epidemiological process of KOVID-19" "West management at the laboratories"(2022). She has certificates: "English for Science" (2021 year, Ministry of innovation of Uzbekistan), "Medical English" (2020 year, online, RF).

 

 

Nematov Aminjon Sabdarovich – Doctor of Medical Sciences, Professor of the Department. Since 1983, he has been a candidate of medical Sciences. Since 1995, he has been a Doctor of Medical Sciences. In 2000, he was awarded the title of professor. In 2004, he was awarded the of the Academy of Medical Technologies of the Russian Federation. Both scientific works of A.S. Nematov are devoted to the study of epidemiology, epizootology, bacteriology and specific prevention of brucellosis, which is registered among workers engaged in processing meat, leather and wool of cattle and small cattle in the territory of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

Author of more than 300 scientific articles devoted to the study of pathogens of particularly dangerous bacterial and viral infections (plague, cholera, tularemia, anthrax, brucellosis, Crimean-Congo hemorrhagic fever), as well as the study of leishmaniasis and acute diarrheal diseases, published in the Republic, CIS countries and Europe, USA. Author of more than 40 guidelines, orders, training programs, etc. 4 textbooks devoted to microbiological disciplines have been published. Under the leadership of A.S. Nematov, 8 candidates of medical sciences and 2 doctors of medical sciences were trained.

In November 2023, under the leadership of A.S. Nematov, documents of independent applicants for the degree of Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) and Doctor of Medicine (DSc) were prepared and submitted to the specialized scientific Council for awarding scientific degrees.

In addition, A.S. Nematov provides scientific guidance to 2 applicants for the degree of Doctor of Medicine (DSc) and an applicant for the degree of Doctor of Philosophy (PhD).

 

 

 Zoirova Nigora Tahirovna senior lecturer of the department , graduated in 2001 from the medical and preventive faculty of the 2nd Tashkent State Medical Institute. From September 2006 to the present, he has been working at the Department of Epidemiology of CDPQMW, since 2008 as an assistant at the department, since 2021 as a senior lecturer. In 2011, she completed a course of primary specialization in the specialty "Epidemiology" (3.5 months 504 hours) at the Department of Epidemiology CDPQMW.

From July 15 to August 26, 2016, within the framework of the KOICA cooperation program of South Korea, she took a training course on the development of the master plan of the training program "Epidemiological investigation of water- and food-borne infections" at the universities of Busan, Yonsei, Seoul; a training course within the FETP-Frontline program on "Field Epidemiology" in January-June 2021, organized by the American organization CDC in cooperation with the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Uzbekistan; In July-September 2021, she completed a refresher course in infectious diseases at the National Medical Center in Seoul, South Korea, within the framework of the Korea International Health Foundation (Korea Foundation for International Healthcare, KOFIH) and the International Scholarship Program of Dr. LEE Jong-wook (Dr. LEE Jong-wook Fellowship Program); In November 2021, she successfully completed a training course on "Training specialists in the field of prevention and control of infectious diseases in Uzbekistan", organized by the South Korean organization KOICA and has certificates for these completed training courses.

She is a member of the Academic Council of the Faculty of Medicine and Prevention, a leading specialist in the Department of development of educational programs and normative and methodological documents of the Central Research and Development Center and Secretary of the central Organizational and Methodological Council, responsible for ICT at the Department and spiritual and educational work at the Department of Epidemiology and the Faculty.

 

 

 Farmonova Mahfuza Fatulloevna – head of the office. Entered the medical college named after Abu Ali ibn Sina in the Bukhara region in 1990 and graduated from this college in 1993. In 1993-1995, she worked as a midwife in the maternity ward of the Peshkinsky district medical association of the Bukhara region, and in 2001 she began working at the Research Institute of Obstetrics and Gynecology. Since 2005, he has been working as a laboratory assistant at the Department of Epidemiology of the Center for the Development of Professional Qualifications of Medical Workers, and since 2020 - as the head of the office.
