Main Requirements for the Presentation of a Scientific Research Work

1. Purpose of the Presentation

  • to clearly and concisely present the research topic;
  • to demonstrate the relevance and significance of the research;
  • to present the main results and conclusions.

2. Presentation Structure

  • title slide;
  • research topic;
  • relevance of the problem;
  • research objective;
  • research tasks;
  • object and subject of the research;
  • research methods;
  • main results;
  • analysis of the results;
  • scientific novelty;
  • practical significance;
  • conclusion and proposals;
  • if necessary, references used.

3. Number of Slides

  • usually, 10–20 slides is optimal;
  • for a defense or scientific seminar, the number of slides is adjusted according to the established time limits.

4. Requirements for the Text

  • the slide should not contain a large amount of text;
  • the main ideas should be expressed briefly and clearly;
  • one main idea should be presented on one slide;
  • spelling and terminology errors must not be allowed.

5. Tables, Diagrams and Figures

  • research results should be presented through tables, graphs and diagrams;
  • the source of numerical data should be indicated;
  • diagrams should be simple and easy to read;
  • excessive decoration and images should not be used.

6. Design

  • a consistent style on all slides;
  • an easy-to-read font;
  • the title and main text should be large enough;
  • good contrast between the background and the text;
  • animation and effects should be used in moderation.

7. Scientific Content

  • the research objective, tasks and results should be logically interconnected;
  • the results should be supported by accurate figures and evidence;
  • scientific novelty should be presented separately;
  • the practical significance of the research results should be highlighted.

8. Presentation Time (5–10 minutes)

  • the speech text is intended not for reading out the entire text presented on the slides, but for commenting on it;
  • the established time limit must be strictly observed.
