Akalaev Rustam Nurmukhamedovich was born on January 21, 1950 in the city of Tashkent. In 1974 he graduated from the medical faculty of the Tashkent State Medical Institute and rose from a surgeon in the department of "artificial kidney" (1974-1976) to the head of the laboratory of hemodialysis at KB UzMZ (1976-1983). Later, on the initiative of Academician Aripov U.A. and under the leadership of R.N. Akalaev. in the 1st clinic of the Tashkent State Medical Institute, the Republican Center for Hemodialysis was organized (1983-1997). For 14 years he was the chief specialist of the Ministry of Health on hemodialysis and trained specialists for almost all departments of the "Artificial Kidney" in Uzbekistan, for the Republics of Central Asia and Kazakhstan. With his participation, hemodialysis departments were organized in Uzbekistan and in Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan and Turkmenistan.

1989 - defense of a Ph.D. thesis "Evaluation of the effectiveness of hemodialysis and hemosorption in chronic renal failure in terms of medium-molecular toxins and their mechanism of action." 1996 - defense of his doctoral dissertation "Problems of pathogenesis, clinical picture and treatment by hemodialysis, hemosorption and plasmapheresis of uremic intoxication in chronic renal failure". In 2008 he was awarded the title of professor.

From 2001 to 2011 Akalaev R.N. - Professor of the Department of Anesthesiology and Reanimatology TashIUV. Since 2011, Akalaev R.N. - Professor of the Department of Emergency Medical Aid of the Tashkent Institute of Medical Management and Head of the Scientific and Clinical Department of Toxicology of the Republican Scientific Center for Emergency Medicine.

From 2008 to 2011 Akalaev R.N. - chief specialist in hemodialysis, since 2011 chief toxicologist of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

Author of 50 rationalization proposals and copyright certificates. More than 100 scientific papers, guidelines and teaching aids have been published. Candidate and doctoral dissertations were defended under his supervision. To date, he is conducting scientific work and carrying out dissertation research. Being the scientific director of the department of toxicology of the RSCEMP, he develops and implements the latest achievements of science into wide clinical practice. In all regions of the country, he conducts master classes for emergency doctors, disaster medicine, resuscitation specialists and toxicologists on clinical toxicology, extracorporeal detoxification and hemodialysis.

Professor Akalaev R.N. at the II Congress of Anesthesiologists and Resuscitators was elected Executive Director of the Association of Anesthesiologists and Resuscitators of Uzbekistan (2003 - 2008). In 2010, at the founding congress of the International Association of Nephrologists of Newly Independent States, he was elected a member of the Board of the Association. Since 2012 - Chairman of the Regional Branch of the Interregional Public Organization "Scientific and Practical Society of Emergency Medicine Physicians" (Moscow, Russia). Since 2014 - a member of the International Association of Forensic Toxicologists (TIAFT), a member of the editorial board of the scientific journals "Bulletin of Emergency Medicine" (Uzbekistan), "Emergency Medical Care named after V.I. N.V. Sklifosovsky "(Moscow, Russia)," Transplantology "(Moscow, Russia). He is a member of the Seminar Council and the Scientific Council for the defense of dissertations in the specialties: 14.00.40 "emergency medicine"; 14.00.37 "Anesthesiology and Reanimatology"; 14.00.39 "toxicology".

For personal contribution to strengthening interethnic friendship and cooperation between the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Republic of Tatarstan in 2013, Akalaev R.N. awarded with a certificate of honor of the President of the Republic of Tatarstan.

He was awarded the Robert Koch Medal (2014) and the Rudolf Virchow Medal (2015) by the European Academy of Natural Sciences for his fruitful pedagogical work and scientific contribution to clinical medicine.
