Fazilov Akram Akmalovich
d.m.s. professors

Professor Akram Akmalovich Fazilov was born in 1938. His total work experience is 56 years. Over the years, Akram Fazilov has developed as a scientist, a talented teacher, mentor and organizer of educational processes, scientific research, who has made a huge contribution to the scientific and practical development of ultrasound diagnostics in medical science in Uzbekistan. In 1961-1987. A. Fazilov began his career as a junior researcher at the Research Institute of Oncology and Radiology of the Ministry of Health of Uzbekistan and became the head of the then leading laboratory of ultrasound diagnostics in the former Soviet Union. In 1967 he defended his Ph.D. thesis at the Institute of Experimental and Clinical Oncology of the USSR Academy of Medical Sciences on the topic "Ultrasound diagnostics of the mammary glands", and in 1981 at the All-Union Oncological Scientific Center of the USSR Academy of Medical Sciences his doctoral dissertation on the topic "Ultrasound diagnostics in oncology". In 1982 A. Fazilov was certified by the Higher Attestation Commission of the USSR as a professor.

1975-1982 worked first as a Chief Specialist, and then as Deputy Chairman of the Scientific Council of the Ministry of Health of Uzbekistan and made a great contribution to the introduction of scientific research of Uzbek scientists into practical health care. A.A. Fazilov, with his multifaceted knowledge, talent of a scientist and mentor, organizational skills, created a new scientific direction in medical science and practice - the school of ultrasound diagnostics of Uzbekistan. Undoubtedly, his contribution to the science of oncology. Fundamental research by A.A. Fazilov is aimed at studying the biological effect of low-intensity ultrasound and at studying the acoustic characteristics of biological objects. This made it possible to introduce into clinical practice new methods and methodologies of ultrasound, such as contrast, functional, subnarcotic echography, to develop and introduce fundamentally new flexible echo probes, methods of acoustic holography, computed ultrasound tomography and ways to create automated workplaces for an ultrasound diagnostics specialist. These studies, protected by 14 patents, including the European certificate for an ultrasonic acoustic device, were an important stimulus for the development of ultrasound medical technology. A.A. Fazilov for the first time systematized and highlighted the age-related, functional ultrasound anatomy and pathology of various human organs and systems, which are a guide for practitioners, scientifically substantiated the ultrasound component of screening and the formation of risk groups for oncological pathology. The technology of ultrasound research in oncology has been introduced, the role and significance of echography in the complex diagnosis and assessment of the effectiveness of treatment of malignant neoplasms has been determined. A collective concept of lifelong ultrasound monitoring of population health has been developed. The specialty "Doctor of ultrasound diagnostics" has been introduced into the nomenclature of medical specialties. The ways of improving the ultrasound diagnostic service in Uzbekistan have been determined. The enthusiasm and inexhaustible strength of Professor A.A. Fozilov, knowledge of modern inventions and scientific information, a sense of promising areas of ultrasound diagnostics serve as a beacon of scientific research for the younger generation. More than 3500 specialists of ultrasound diagnostics have been trained or improved their qualifications under the leadership of A. Fazilov. To date, he has published about 450 scientific works, including 17 monographs and manuals, 49 normative documents and methodological recommendations. Among the students of Professor A.A. Fazilov there are 11 doctors of medical sciences and 42 candidates of medical sciences. According to S.A. Balter, among the dissertations on ultrasound diagnostics carried out in the CIS countries, one in three is from Uzbekistan. From 1987 to the present, A.A. Fazilov has been working at the Tashkent Institute for Advanced Training of Physicians. In this, the leading institution of postgraduate retraining and continuous advanced training of doctors in Uzbekistan, new facets of the scientific, pedagogical and organizational abilities of the scientist were revealed. A.A. Fazilov in 1987-1998 He held leading positions at the institute: first vice-rector for scientific work, and then for 6 years - vice-rector for educational work and as a scientist made a huge contribution to the training of scientific and pedagogical personnel, as well as to the postgraduate training of doctors of the Republic. During this period, the activities of the departments of the Institute were organized at a high level and based on the use of modern medical technologies. Fundamental and applied scientific research was carried out jointly with the Republican Research Institute, Research Institute of the CIS countries and international organizations. Prof. A.A. Fazilov in 1987-1998 Head of the Department of Oncology and Ultrasound Diagnostics, in 1998-2004. professor of this department, in 2005-2009. Head of the Department of Ultrasound, in 2009-2016. professor of this department and since 2017 head of the department. Under the leadership of A.A. Fazilov, the department of ultrasound diagnostics of TashIUV has become a large scientific, educational and practical center. The department is equipped with modern ultrasound devices, educational audio-visual aids and has clinical bases in several large multidisciplinary hospitals. In accordance with the State Standards, the Concept and training programs for retraining (specialization), general and thematic improvement of ultrasound specialists have been developed. The staff of the department is constantly studying the experience of postgraduate retraining and continuous improvement of foreign educational centers. The department has established close ties and cooperation with specialized educational institutions of the USA, Germany, Italy, South Korea, Russia, Kazakhstan, Ukraine: the Department of Ultrasound Diagnostics of the Russian Medical Academy of Postgraduate Continuing Education (Prof. V.V. Mitkov), the training center under the Presidential Administration Russian Federation (prof. O.Yu. Atkov), Chuvash University named after I. N. Ulyanova (prof. V. N. Diomidova), Smolensk Medical Academy (prof. A. V. Borsukov), State Medical Academy Astana (prof. R. I. Rakhimdzhanova), University Clinic Graz (Austria), institute ultrasound in medicine and biology at the University. Thomas Jefferson (USA). Doctor of Medical Sciences, Professor A.A. Fazilov is a prominent scientist representing the medical science of Uzbekistan at the world scientific and practical forums. He is an Academician of the Russian Academy of Medical Sciences, Academician of the National Medical Academy of Kazakhstan, awarded the Honorary Diploma "Pioneer of Ultrasound", approved by the World Association of Ultrasound Diagnostics Specialists For a significant contribution to the training of medical personnel and the use of modern medical technologies, the University of Cambridge recognized A. Fazilov as "Person of the Year 2000-2001." and entered it into the International 29th volume and awarded it with a silver medal. A.A. Fazilov is an honorary lecturer of the Russian Academy of Postgraduate Continuing Education, awarded with honorary diplomas of the European Association of Ultrasound Diagnostic Specialists, the Russian Association of Ultrasound Diagnostic Specialists and the Kazakhstan Association of Radiologists.
