The Department of Radiology (currently, Medical Radiology) was organized in 1932 under the leadership of Professor M.I. at first in the form of a course headed by Professor Mankus G. Subsequently, in 1936, the course was transformed into a department and it was headed until 1952 by Professor A.S. Stekolnikov. During this period, the department was mainly engaged in the preparation of the scientific and pedagogical staff. Postgraduate education of doctors was carried out only on the issues of normal X-ray anatomy of organs and systems.
Since 1952 till 1968 the department was headed by professor Abdurasulov D.M. In 1959, professor Abdurasulov D.M. Research Institute of Roentgen-Radiology was opened, to the base of which the department of the same name moved. The main scientific direction of the department was the study of the possibilities of X-ray and linear tomography in diseases of the chest and abdominal organs, gastrointestinal tract, urinary system and osteoarticular system, as well as problems of multiple primary tumors. During this period, the department published 4 collections of works, 10 monographs, prepared 5 doctors and 10 candidates of medical sciences.
In 1968. the department was divided into two: one department of radiology headed by prof. Mirganiev Shahabiddin Mirganievich, and the second - X-ray radiology, headed by prof. Mansurov A.R. In 1976, the departments merged again.
From 1976 to 1998 the united department was headed by professor Mirganiev Sh.M. At the department at that time worked such professionals as associate professor RG Enikeeva, Ph.D. Buravikhina V.N., Ph.D. Oster A.V., Ph.D. Bazhenova T.F., Ph.D. Galieva S.G. , Ph.D. Buravikhina V.N. and others. The main scientific direction of the department during this period: X-ray diagnostics of diseases of the respiratory system, mediastinum and digestive tract, diseases of the osteoarticular system. During this period, 4 monographs, 35 articles were published. From 1998 to 2008, the department was headed by prof. Shakirov Eduard Adylovich, which was located on the basis of the Republican Oncological Scientific Center of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Uzbekistan and since 2001 the department was relocated to the base of the RSCEMP. In 2007. the department was renamed the department of medical radiology and began to train not only radiologists, but also to train doctors in computed tomography, ultrasound and radionuclide diagnostics. The staff of the department published: 52 scientific articles, 1 monograph. Under the guidance of Professor E.A. Shakirov 5 candidate dissertations, 1 doctoral dissertation were defended, 18 clinical residents were trained.
