Based on his research, he first linked the failure of the surfactant system, which is the main cause of respiratory distress syndrome in infants, to the state of the lung cell monooxygenase system, and at the same time a new approach to preventing the onset of this disease. clinically and experimentally justified the use of monooxygenase system inducers.

During his tenure as head of the Central Research Laboratory at the 1st TashMI, I.R. Mavlyanov applied a number of methods for assessing the pharmacodynamics and pharmacokinetics for scientific research in the field of efficacy and safety of drugs. He continued his research in the field of pharmacology and clinical pharmacology, internal medicine sciences, worked with students. In 1994, I.R. Mavlyanov supervised 2 candidates for the dissertation and prepared students.

I.R. Mavlyanov's scientific activity is focused on the interaction between specific and nonspecific systems of the organism in various pathological conditions and the theoretical direction of the problems of pharmacological correction of these disorders, as well as practical problems aimed at ensuring the effectiveness and safety of drug treatment.
